Antique French Louis XIV Style Beveled Glass Brass Versailles Lantern Sconce Vtg

We are unsure exactly what this item is but we know that we bought it from an extremely luxury estate sale. All of the pieces in there were antiques. I’m not sure if it is the top of a sconce or if it is a different sort of standalone piece maybe a hurricane shade outside of a candle or oil lamp. The top currently just sits on top instead of notches in. This is definitely a piece that requires previous knowledge or subsequent creativity. It is heavy and the weight indicates the solid nature of construction. It is delicate at the same time as each of the pieces of glass are held in by the corresponding corner fixture. There are no returns on this item. I hope that whoever becomes the owner appreciate it as much as I do.
